The Sunrise Museum was the original science and art museum in Charleston, which closed and became the new Avampato Discovery Museum when the Clay Center opened. The Clay Center is named for West Virginia philanthropists Buckner and Lyell Clay of the Clay Foundation. My daughter's favorite area was the My Town downstairs, which was like an interactive child run town for free play. My son's favorite area was the human body area with the interactive dance and basketball or the music rooms. There was an outdoor area as well with a few games, beautiful sculptures, and picnic tables. Each floor had restrooms and a few stations for hand sanitizing. On the bottom floor there was an area for food and a few vending machines. The museum is three levels with stairs and elevators. They were being very respectful and not on their devices. So many interactive learning opportunities for kids. Definitely would say this place is from age toddlers all the way to older children. We took our two school-age children and spent over 2 hours at the museum, probably could have spent longer but ran out of time due to closing (5 p.m.).

Many different interactive activities from music to water to human body to industry. Sometimes museums can be $30+ dollars for kids, this one only $9 for adults and $7.50 for kids which was very reasonable. We've been to a lot of children's museums across country, and I was very impressed with the price of this one for what you got. Multi-level children's museum/science center/art center.
